Thank you Beth Sneyd!

Assessment & Data Coordinator, February 2022 Classified Employee of the Month

Beth is pictured on the left with her husband and son.

What is your position, and how long have you worked at Compass Charter Schools?
I am the Assessment & Data Coordinator and have been with Compass for almost eight years.

What did you do before coming to work for Compass?
I worked for a local charter school for two years before joining Compass. Before that, I was a Special Education aide for two years, working as a 1:1 aide in a general education setting and working in a severely handicapped classroom. Prior, I worked for Sam’s Club for more than 17 years in various positions, including HR and Receiving Manager.

What do you do at Compass? What is your favorite part about your position?
I enjoy preparing for testing through teacher training and planning scholar prep. Being able to connect with scholars during testing, which is a stressful activity for them, I want to make sure they know the tools necessary to complete their assessments with less anxiety.

How do you feel about being named Employee of the Month at Compass?
I am blessed and grateful to work with fantastic and knowledgeable peers! To be recognized for my contributions is amazing!

What are your favorite hobbies or pastimes?
I love to read! But I have to balance that with my love of binging new shows. I volunteer as a CASA for foster youth, I walk 8-10 miles a week with my dog, and I’m discovering a new love for cooking by using a meal subscription service.

Why should families choose Compass?
Our teachers have a heart and passion for teaching, and they have the knowledge to do that outside the classroom. Compass is scholar-focused to ensure that every scholar is the center of their own educational journey. Even as we comply with public school requirements, there is flexibility within our model for our scholars to be unique and creative.

Thank you Oscar De Jesus!

I am the Special Assistant to the Superintendent & CEO. I have had the extreme pleasure of being part of the Compass family since July 1, 2019.

What did you do before coming to work for Compass?
Before coming to Compass, I was a full-time student majoring in Organizational Leadership with a minor in Psychology. Before that, I spent the last 20 years working to support America’s service members and their families, served in the U.S. Navy, worked in the nonprofit, private, and public sectors, and more!

What do you do at Compass? What is your favorite part about your position?
My primary responsibilities include drafting and overseeing the Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAP), overseeing and maintaining our Western Association of Schools and College accreditation, and overseeing the awards program with Josue’s assistance (Employee of the Month, Alumni Awards, Awards for Compass in general, and more!)  I also take great pleasure in advising the LEGO, GSA, and Life Skills Scholar Clubs.

There are two things I love about my job. The first one is engaging with our scholars and seeing them advance in their educational journey here at Compass. The second is working with the most attentive, caring, dedicated, hardworking, and supportive staff with whom I have ever had the pleasure of working. Our team is most certainly one of a kind!

How do you feel about being named Employee of the Month at Compass?
I feel honored and valued.

What are your favorite hobbies or pastimes?
Volunteering, planning and hosting my annual Lost Boys Thanksgiving Dinner, wine and paint nights, and studying – I am a lifelong learner!

Why should families choose Compass?
Families should choose Compass because we put our scholars first and foremost. Not one decision is made without prioritizing the needs of our scholars. In addition, our staff is one of the best staff in education. The dedication, passion, and love they pour into their work and scholars is truly unmatched.

What do you do at Compass? What is your favorite part about your position?
I manage the attendance process and verify that the attendance we submit for state reporting is accurate. I’m a big spreadsheet nerd, and I love looking through the attendance and finding errors that need to be corrected. I also love getting to talk to teachers and other staff!

How do you feel about being named Employee of the Month at Compass?
I feel honored! I love working here with all of my co-workers.

What are your favorite hobbies or pastimes?
