ASCA Awards RAMP® Designation to Compass Charter Schools

For immediate release – February 3, 2025

THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – Compass Charter Schools of San Diego’s Counseling Program has been officially recognized as an ASCA Model Program® (RAMP®) by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). The RAMP® designation recognizes schools committed to delivering an exemplary Counseling Program. Our program will be celebrated at the RAMP Recognition Dinner on Monday, July 14, 2025, during the ASCA Annual Conference in Long Beach, California.

RAMP® honorees are awarded for aligning their program with the criteria in the ASCA National Model®, a framework for a data-informed school counseling program. Since the program’s inception, more than 1,300 schools have earned the RAMP® designation. Research findings indicate that fully implemented school counseling programs are associated with a range of positive student educational and behavioral outcomes.

Debra Stephan, Director of Counseling Services, shares, “This recognition places us among an elite group of schools nationwide that demonstrate an outstanding dedication to the success and well-being of every scholar. It reflects our entire Compass community’s hard work, collaboration, and unwavering support. Congratulations, team!”

“Congratulations to our incredible counseling team on earning this well deserved certification. Our scholars are thriving because of their professionalism and dedication to ensuring that every scholar’s mental health is as supported as their academic achievement.”- Superintendent and CEO Elizabeth Brenner.

“This year’s RAMP® honorees have shown their commitment to students and the school counseling profession,” said Jill Cook, ASCA executive director. “These schools used data to drive their program development and implementation, so all students can achieve success. The RAMP® designation distinguishes these schools and encourages school counselors nationwide to strive for excellence.”

This honor affirms our efforts and inspires us to continue fostering a supportive environment where every scholar can thrive. The RAMP designation is valid for five years (through the 2029-2030 school year). Our Counseling team will be submitting our RAMP application for Compass Charter Schools of Los Angeles and Yolo in October 2025.
