Thousand Oaks, CA – Compass Charter Schools announced that Christina Vert, Supervising Teacher, and Marco Mattaliano, Help Desk Technician, have been selected as our 2020-21 Employees of the Year.
Each school year, Compass honors our staff with the Employee of the Year award. All staff are encouraged to nominate fellow employees they feel are high-achieving, have a strong work ethic, and excellent leadership skills. The previous years’ honorees review all of the nominations and select the new Employees of the Year.
Christina Vert, Supervising Teacher – Certificated Employee of the Year
Vert, supervising teacher, makes an impact on everyone that she meets. She is passionate about Compass and serving families. Vert goes above and beyond in her position at Compass, including chairing the marketing committee this year and serving as an Assessment Teacher on Special Assignment (ToSA). Vert has a
Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University San Bernardino. She then pursued a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction, focusing on Early Childhood Education from Concordia University. Vert has worked for Teach For America Corps in Rio Grande Valley, Texas, and taught middle school in the classroom, all the way down to transitional kindergarten! Vert enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, and crafting! She loves opportunities that allow her to be creative and step outside her comfort zone.
Vert shares, “I am beyond honored and grateful to be a part of the Compass family. One of my driving forces in life is to confront educational inequity through teaching and in every sector of society to create a country free from injustice. I am proud that I can help each of my scholars gain access to a high-quality education. I am inspired by my colleagues and enjoy working collaboratively and effectively to ensure that all scholars have access to a high-quality and rigorous education. Thank you, Compass, for allowing me to further my life-long vision that one day all children in this nation will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.”
