Thousand Oaks, CA – The Winters Joint Unified Board of Trustees approved Compass Charter Schools of Yolo at their regular meeting last Thursday, April 18. Their decision sparks a new partnership between CCS and the district to serve the needs of scholars looking for educational opportunities tailored to fit their specific needs.
“We feel very fortunate to expand the reach of our Compass community,” said Compass Superintendent & CEO J.J. Lewis. “We strongly believe in what we do for scholars, providing them with a personalized education to meet their individual needs. I look forward to working with all of the new families we can now serve throughout Yolo and its surrounding counties.”
After a comprehensive review by district staff, the board approved the charter, initiating a five-year term of operation for the charter. CCS of Yolo will be available to scholars who reside in the counties of Colusa, Lake, Napa, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, and Yolo.
CCS is a growing virtual charter school system, providing a rigorous online and homeschool education to scholars in grades TK through 12. Scholars come from various backgrounds and experiences and are looking for individualized educational choices that fit their schedules, lifestyles, and interests. CCS teachers and staff provide direct instruction in virtual classroom sessions, offer field trips and enrichment activities, and use research-based programs to benchmark and support scholar success throughout the year.
“I am thrilled about our new partnership with Winters Joint USD,” remarked Lewis. “This will truly be a partnership with the district, to support scholars along their educational journey and working side-by-side to ensure scholars are prepared for their next chapter in life.”
Enrollment is now open for the 2019-20 school year. For more information on getting started, visit CompassCharters.org.
