Thousand Oaks, CA – Compass Charter Schools (CCS) is excited to announce today that its Superintendent & CEO, J.J. Lewis, has been awarded the 2019 APLUS+ Pioneer Award for Leadership for his positive contributions to the personalized learning model and movement.
The APLUS+ Pioneer Award for Leadership was presented to Lewis today, Friday, October 25 during the 17th Annual APLUS+ Network Conference in San Diego. The award recognizes leaders in education who advocate for personalized learning programs and experiences.

Lewis for receiving the 2019 APLUS+ Pioneer Award for Leadership,” shared Jeff Rice, Founder/Director of APLUS. “He serves as the Superintendent & CEO of Compass Charter Schools, which successfully provides a personalized learning experience for scholars. Mr. Lewis is a committed advocate for the personalized learning model and I am proud to present him with the leadership award this year.”
CCS is a member of APLUS+ and embraces the personalized learning model to provide a quality educational experience for its scholars. Lewis has served as the Superintendent & CEO of CCS since October 2015. He holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and serves on a number of educational boards and committees. He is recognized for his influence and advocacy for public charter schools and the personalized learning model, and for his leadership at CCS.
