Thousand Oaks, CA – CCS is proud of its scholars and uses its Scholar of the Month program to recognize their accomplishments. The program also ties into the CCS core values with March focusing on achievement. Scholars are nominated by teachers and staff for their academic excellence, work ethic, leadership skills, and virtual involvement, and selected by the leadership team for the monthly honor.
Online Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Willow C., of Salinas
“Willow embodies the CCS core value of achievement because she is a hard-working, kindergarten scholar whose progress is always at or above our weekly class goal,” said Kimberly Love, elementary school teacher. “She attends her Learning Labs each week with the biggest smile! She is always ready to learn and actively participates in each day’s lesson. It has been a joy to work with Willow and her family this school year!”
Online Middle School Scholar of the Month: Jeannelle R., of Big Bear Lake
“Jeannelle is a new scholar this semester and has been amazing with her respectful, positive communication with teachers since the moment she joined Compass,” said Jessica Wood, middle school teacher. “In class, she has stellar participation and engagement, answering all questions posed in the chat and volunteering to do work or provide an explanation for her thinking. She responds to other scholars with encouragement when they share during Learning Labs. Her discussion posts are detailed, thoughtful, and unique. Jeanelle is a model of what communication should look like in all areas of interacting with others in her educational experience. The 8th-grade team is so happy that she joined us this semester!”
Online High School Scholar of the Month: Leilani J., of Encino
“Throughout her time at CCS, Leilani has shown remarkable dedication to her studies and grades,” said Janae Smith, high school coordinator. “Her detailed work in all of her courses is exemplary. She is always willing to support fellow scholars and is actively engaged in her Learning Labs. Leilani continues to represent each of the CCS core values, especially achievement, as she juggles her dance career and her academic studies. As she finishes her last semester here at CCS, we wish her all the best as she continues to have a positive impact on the world around her after graduation.”
Options Program Scholar of the Month: Matthew S., of National City
“Matthew has grown so much,” said Amy Wormald, educational facilitator. “He has demonstrated the CCS core values of respect and achievement in his martial arts class and has demonstrated perseverance in his language arts studies. He has worked hard to grow and learn this semester. Matthew has worked on being respectful to his peers, his Learning Coach, and his friends. He is enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic. His joy and zest for life are evident in all that he does. We know that he will continue to do great things! Wonderful job, Matthew!”
“Congratulations to all of our March Scholars of the Month. There are many talented scholars enrolled at CCS, and this program is one of the many ways we recognize and celebrate their hard work,” shared J.J. Lewis, President & CEO. “Please join all of us at CCS in celebrating Willow, Jeannelle, Leilani, and Matthew for being named our March Scholars of the Month!”
