Compass Charter Schools (CCS) Names their June
Scholars of the Month
Thousand Oaks, CA – CCS is proud of its scholars and uses its Scholar of the Month program to recognize their accomplishments. The program also ties into the CCS core values of achievement, respect, teamwork, integrity, and communication. Scholars are nominated by teachers and staff for their academic excellence, work ethic, leadership skills, and virtual involvement, and selected by the leadership team for the monthly honor.
Compass Charter Schools of Los Angeles (serving the counties of Los Angeles, Kern, San Bernardino, and Ventura):
Online High School Scholar of the Month: Mona E. of Arcadia
“Mona consistently gives her best effort towards her academics and is always eager to participate in learning labs,” shares Mrs. Sowell, Online High School Teacher. “She makes the learning lab engaging and fun with her thoughtful background knowledge and competitive spirit during class learning games.”
Options Middle School Scholar of the Month: Jayden H. of Northridge
“Jayden has worked incredibly hard this year,” shares Mrs. Kiefner, Educational Facilitator. “He turned in all of his assignments on time and with excellent quality. He built leadership skills, is respected by his peers, and works well with a team. He is respectful of adults, asks questions, and looks for feedback, which shows that he cares about and takes personal ownership of his educational experience.”

Online Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Isabella M. of Thousand Palms
“Bella has worked hard all year long,” shares Mrs. Wiederrich, Educational Facilitator. “She has stayed focused even during these challenging times. She continues to make great progress. Great job, Bella. We are so proud of you!”
Online Middle School Scholar of the Month: Troy P. of Buena Park
“Troy has been showing great progress,” shares Mrs. Angelo, Middle School Teacher. “He is highly organized and communicates regularly. Great work, Troy!”
Online High School Scholar of the Month: Alec M. of Riverside
“Alec has attended all of the physical science learning labs and always participates in each session,” shares Mr. Spink, High School Teacher. “He has completed all of the lab assignments in the course and always has his work done on time. Alec is achieving high marks in all of his courses and is great about communicating with instructors. He continues to exhibit the core ARTIC values of achievement, respect, teamwork, integrity, and communication. Great work, Alec!”
Options Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Matthew S. of Costa Mesa
“Matthew is an exceptionally bright scholar!” Shares Mrs. Somerville, OCLC Supervising Teacher. “He is a superb reader, problem-solver, and loves to participate in class! Matthew is privileged to have a Learning Coach who provides him with a wide variety of learning opportunities – both traditional and experiential. Also, Matthew is a talented skateboarder, and he loves to sing and watch live theater. Way to reach for the stars, Matthew! I’m so excited that you are a Scholar of The Month!”

Options High School Scholar of the Month: Dayana B. of Wildomar
“Dayana has put in a lot of diligent work in all her courses this year,” shares Mrs. Campalas, Educational Facilitator. “She transitioned to fully at home schooling during the second semester, but she continued to work and produce excellent samples persistently. I am amazed at her artistic designs on her digital arts elective. I can truly say that she is a person who is motivated to finish high school with flying colors. Dayana, I am so proud of all your work!”
Options High School Scholar of the Month: Katerina G. of Carlsbad
“Katerina has worked extremely hard this year in all of her classes,” shares Mrs. Harvey, Options Regional Coordinator. “Katerina has shown her creativity in her culinary arts course and her writing. Katerina has excelled in her biology course by expanding upon the concepts and experiments. She always puts 100% towards her goals.”

Options Elementary School Scholar of the Month: Onika O. of Santa Rosa
“Onika is very sweet and respectful,” shares Mrs. Dickens, Educational Facilitator. “She is proud of her work, which is a great quality to have. When I asked her about what goal she wanted to accomplish for the semester, she knew right away what she wanted to accomplish, and it shows her goals-oriented mindset. Great job, Onika. Options Middle School Scholar of the Month: Jennifer M. of Fairfield
“Jennifer is confident, positive, and a great role model for her siblings and friends,” shares Mrs. Harvey, Options Regional Coordinator. “She has shown excellent ability to set goals and be persistent in achieving them. She is thoughtful, insightful, and thorough in written and verbal communication and has a talent for expressing her ideas clearly. I enjoy how invested she is in their learning.”
Options High School Scholar of the Month: Cameron R. of Napa
“Cameron is graduating this year. He has been such a delight and embodies everything we love to represent CCS.” shares Mrs. Lasley, Educational Facilitator. “He is a hard worker and plans to go to Europe for college. He is responsive and proactive. He is such a kind person and is highly self-motivated. He exemplifies the life skills that we hope for in all our graduates.”
