A Community Provider can be either an individual or a company that provides:

  1. General educational services(Service providers have either in-person or virtual access to our scholars.)
  2. General educational products, curriculum (print or digital) to our scholars. (Materials providers do not have live interaction with scholars.)

Are there any restrictions as to the content or pricing of services or materials?

Yes, all content must be nonsectarian (non-religious). The rates/pricing must be basic/economical and industry standard. Compass cannot use general educational funding for assessments, therapy, or testing.

Does the business need a referral to submit a pre-application?

Yes, either the name of an enrolled family or a Compass staff member

How long is the application process?

Due to the high volume of applications we receive during peak times (such as Summer, September, and school breaks) and the detailed steps required for onboarding, the entire onboarding process could take 4 to 12 weeks to finalize.

What documents will be required from an in-person/virtual business providing services?

  1. A current 2024 W-9 form
  2. Fingerprints: Department of Justice (DOJ) cleared background check (Compass Live Scan) for each instructor interacting with a scholar or proof of an Originating Agent Identifier (ORI) number

All persons in direct contact with our Compass scholars must be fingerprinted either by using Compass Charters’s live scan form or be live scanned under the business’s ORI number. Compass Charters does not have access to results from previous live scans done under another agency, employer, or State.

No, all instructors must reside in California.

Yes, instructors must be at least 18 and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Would my renter’s or homeowner’s insurance be accepted?

No, business liability is required for all service providers. If your business is considered high-risk your policy will need to have additional insured wording added to your policy.

A current 2024 W-9 form and a business license based on the business’s city or county requirements. (If the business’s city/county does not require a business license Compass will require another proof of business)

Yes, a working website (social media accounts are not acceptable) with enough information (schedule of services, pricing) so our families can place an order request with their Supervising Teacher

How are providers paid?

Net 30 basis. Community Providers can choose to receive payment either by check or ACH transfer once services have been rendered or materials have been delivered and a correct invoice has been received.

Will Compass provide advertisement for my business?

Once approved the business name will be listed publicly on our website.  Also, businesses are given the opportunity to complete a form if they are interested in their products or services being showcased in one of our weekly family newsletters. Provider’s information will be added as space permits.
